We’ve been a bit quiet lately… okay, very quiet for quite a while. Though here’s something happening, and happening relatively soon:

A wild dieselpunk film appears! It’s showing at the Mercury Cinema in Adelaide on the following days and times:
Friday 21st, 6:30; Saturday 22nd, 7:00pm; Saturday 29th, 7:00pm; Sunday 30th, 4:30pm. All dates in June.

Some of us shall be attending on the 21st (Facebook event here), and I do implore that you join us, optionally in WWII military or inspired costume of course. Hope to see you there, soldier!

It’s been almost a month since Dieselpunk SA had their first ever event - a picnic in the Botanical Gardens! Almost a year on, it’s time for International Dieselpunk Day! Taking place on the 12th of November, IDD this year is a Monday. However, we’ve decided to hold our celebrations on Sunday, the 11th! This shall be the first ever IDD, and Dieselpunk SA’s first appearance since our surprisingly triumphant panel and parade at AVCon!
This is essentially much the same shindig as our first picnic. So for those of you who recall where that was, that’s where we are again this time. For those who’re new, we’re fairly close to the south side of the gardens (closer to North Terrace). I’ll post a map in the comments below and on the Dieselpunk SA pages.
Please bring all the typical picnic things; rug or picnic table and chairs, any food and drinks, and any cutlery and crockery you feel you may require. Bring whatever food you wish (to share or keep for yourself), but era appropriate or inspired foods will be particularly smiled upon (rationing ain’t always so much fun, so don’t feel pressured into using your eggs sparingly).
As for what to wear. Dieselpunk! Vintage (pre-1950s) is also acceptable. And if you can’t come up with anything, come along anyway!

Hope to see you all there, and don’t forget to join the Dieselpunk SA group on Facebook!

For those of you keen to attend a dieselpunk event, look no further!
At the latest, the next one will be on the 12th of November - deemed “International Dieselpunk Day”, as agreed upon by the heads of several worldwide dieselpunk communities.
Possibly a picnic, possibly not. You can find the Facebook event by clicking anywhere here.

And, as always, kill Hitler… uh, I mean… don’t forget to join the Dieselpunk SA group on Facebook!

More from the first wave of photos!
Here’s some shots of some of our diesel-folks from after the panel & parade, all from Catherine Scholz (who’s art, at least, can be found on her Facebook fan page).

Big thanks to all involved in the recent dieselpunk panel and parade, thanks to the people behind AVCon 2012 for helping out and not losing all faith in us, and much thanks to the many people who spared the time to attend our panel and parade.

It turned out much better than I think many of us were expecting.

AVCon people chatted briefly with some of us after the panel and parade, noting how pleased they were, and how keen they’d be for us to return at AVCon 2013. So we’ll probably be back (and in greater numbers).
